Important news in the "Club 4000"

Dear friends,

We are happy to inform you that, beginning in 2006, the "Club 4000" will be part of the Club Alpino Italiano (Italian Alpine Club, CAI), Turin Section. This operation will allow our Club to be better known among European alpine clubs, and, by joining CAI Turin Section efforts with ours, will reinforce the classic (high altitude mountain) climbing attitude.

Examine the draft version of the rules (in Italian).

The new address of our Club will be:

CLUB 4000
C/o Club Alpino Italiano, via Barbaroux,

10122 Torino (Italy)

Phone: +39 011546031

E-mail and web addresses will not change.

This affiliation leaves our organization autonomy unchanged, but grants us the logistic support and the image of a great alpine club. This is a very important subject for our club, born almost like a joke between two friends and grown in a few years up to international recognition. The use at no cost of the secretary services of the Turin Section will allow us to enlarge and improve our Club, quite limited, at present, by the scarce human and financial resources.

In our dreams we would like the "Club 4000" to become more and more a meeting point, and not only a virtual one, for a better knowledge between each other that could give us more occasions to climb the missing "4000's".

As a consequence, since 2006 our logo will appear together with the one of the CAI Turin Section, that - we remember - was CAI's cradle and is the oldest section (1863).

The new affiliation will not change the present status for Club 4000 members who are already CAI members of other sections. They will remain members of their original section, but they will have to ask the aggregation to the Turin Section, as will be better explained later, in accordance with the CAI Statute.

Members of the "Club 4000" who are not CAI members, both Italians and foreigners, must join the Italian Alpine Club, either Turin Section or any other section. In this second case they must request the aggregation to the Turin Section too.

For the Italian Alpine Guides the aggregation is also requested.

The Turin Section of the Italian Alpine Club is proud to accept in its structure the "Club 4000", that is recognized as an expression of its best social spirit.
Therefore, the Section President will present at next Steering Council, that will decide on the subject, the following proposals:

- the aggregation to the Turin Section for Club 4000 members already CAI members should be for free;
- the affiliation to the Italian Alpine Club, Turin Section, will be offered for free for the first year to all Club 4000 members not yet CAI members.

While waiting for all bureaucratic stuff to be completed, please inform us as soon as possible which Alpine Club or other climbing association you are affiliated to; CAI members should also indicate the affiliation section.

We will send you all the necessary documentation and forms, after that you will receive the member card of "Group CLUB 4000" of the CAI Turin Section.

For any information please contact us at segreteria@club4000.it or at Turin Section segreteria@caitorino.it, web site www.caitorino.it.

We are waiting for your answer. Thank you for your attention.

Best regards

For the Secretary of CLUB 4000
